Glen Shorrock to headline Maleny longtable

Glenn Shorrock is Australian music royalty so who better to kick-off the first Maleny Long Lunch at The Pavillion, Maleny Showgrounds on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, 31 October.

The inaugural Maleny Long Lunch is the brainchild of the guys from Almost the Greatest Events – Ian Dicko Dickson, Dave Wilkins and Tony Aitken and was born of “lockdown fever”.

Dicko said the trio decided to join forces to create a regular event that incorporated some of the “great things in life” – great music, fabulous food and brilliant beers, wines and spirits.

He said the Maleny Long Lunch would proudly support Wishlist (Sunshine Coast Health Foundation) and would donate profits from the bar on the day to the charity to help with the ongoing running and maintenance of the Sunshine Coast’s Wishlist House.

According to Dicko it was also important bring on board a worthy local charity and give back to the community.

“We are thrilled to present Glenn Shorrock as special guest artist at our first Maleny Long Lunch,” he said.

“We hope this event becomes a regular event on the Sunshine Coast calendar and encourage all Queenslanders to come along and enjoy the best of Australian talent, food and wines from across this country.

“It also brings great joy to us as a team to be able to support Wishlist and the great work they do on the Sunshine Coast.”

Glenn Shorrock’s career spans more than five decades with his catalogue of hits including lead vocals for Twilights, Axiom and The Little River Band, as well as a stellar solo career.

As a testament to his enduring talent, he has been twice inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame – first in 1991 in his own right and again with The Little River Band in 2004.

Patrons can expect to hear some of Glenn’s biggest hits from his career including Help Is On Its way, Cool Change, Little Ray of Sunshine and many more.

Captain J Beard and his team from Beauty & The Beard will serve up a mouth-watering feast, complimented by drinks, purchased over the bar and supplied by Bird In Hand wineries and beers by Black Flag Brewery. Sunshine and Sons will have an array of spectacular gin cocktails and non-alcoholic options that can also be purchased over the bar.

The afternoons entertainment will kick off with rising singer / songwriter sensation Taylor Moss, currently wowing the public with more than two million streams of latest releases.
