Seniors take centre stage at Broadway concert

International borders remain shut but Gold Coast seniors can take a trip to Midtown Manhattan with this year’s Broadway-themed concert held during Queensland Seniors Month.

The annual event will awaken the senses and touch the soul on Tuesday 19 October, in a stunning tribute to Broadway musicals such as Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera.

Mayor Tom Tate said this year’s show would feature an hour-long journey of hits in a moving tribute to the iconic Luciano Pavarotti.

“Every year, seniors tell me what a highlight this concert is and I’m sure this year’s entertainment will be just as memorable,” he said.

“Seniors Month is an important way to recognise how much our seniors have contributed to our local community. It’s our way of saying thanks.”

A stellar cast of renowned singers, instrumentalists and dancers will wow audiences across three sessions at HOTA’s Lakeside Room – 9.30am, 12pm and 2.30pm.

Doors open 30 minutes prior.

Tickets are free and available from the HOTA Box Office, online at hota.com.au or by phoning 5588 4000.

The City also supports seniors with: Free dog registration (owners over 60 years of age) for up to two desexed dogs.

Eligible Gold Coast seniors and veterans are able to travel for free on Gold Coast Surfside buses between 8.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday (public holidays included) and all day on weekends.

Council’s Cab Service for residents over 60 years of age ($4 return taxi fares between home and local shops in service catchment areas).

Library and Community Centre sessions specific to seniors such as tech and safety workshops.

More than 150 low cost or free Active & Healthy classes including yoga and aqua fitness
